Ken Hanke Mountain Xpress (Asheville, NC) Comedy of a kind that doesn't get made any more (probably due to a lack of actors who can pull off this sort of thing). Rated: 4.5/5 Jul 20, 2011 Full Review Read all reviews

Steve D I wish there was more Durbin but it is really cute. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/20/23 Full Review s r A silly shenanigans romance that was fun, but not one I need to see again. Saw it on TCM. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Tom M Laughton is great in this light comedy. Durbin in one of her better roles. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/21 Full Review Frances H The good points in this flick are Durbin's singing and Charles Laughton's acting. The plot is really thin with plenty of holes in it, and the rest is just fluff. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/27/21 Full Review Audience Member Well acted, Deanna Durbin vehicle. A light comedy where Charles Laughton steals the show. And the "bead twirlers"....hilarious. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Charles Laughton is a dying millionaire whose wish is to meet his son's fiancée before he dies. Unfortunately the son (Robert Cummings) cannot locate his fiancée at her hotel, and in desperation asks hatcheck girl Deanna Durbin to pose as his fiancée to keep his father happy. She agrees, and makes a very good impression on Laughton. However, he doesn't die and starts to get better, which leaves Cummings and Durbin in a very awkward situation. It is very amusing, with Laughton and Durbin having some great scenes together. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
