Shock Therapy R The movie drags the viewer through an cornucopia of trauma-related flashbacks, visions, and odd characters that appear to be re-materialized souls of the protagonist's past car accident. Dark and morbid humor is injected without its intended effect. The Pollyanna conclusion seals the fate of this film and leaves the viewer wondering which was worse: the car accident the movie portrayed, or the laborious and circuitous retelling of it. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/05/22 Full Review Audience Member Soulful portrayal of PTSD by Michael D. Cohen. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member I have to agree with the one critic's review. The movie holds your attention for the first half or so with some deft writing, but the "something magical" mentioned in the Movie Info above seemed less than plausible. The movie also goes for the easy ending, not unusual for a North American film but unusual for an "art" film destined for limited distribution. Not a terrible movie but it leaves you rolling your eyes towards the end. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Ben Kenigsberg New York Times At once overly eccentric and underdeveloped. Sep 26, 2014 Full Review Nick Schager Film Journal International An alternately morose and quirky tale about a suicidal doorman that, despite a sturdy lead performance, fails to generate either droll laughs or poignant drama.
