The problem with heist movies is, and always will be, is the planning of the actual heist. I will always dislike heist films because of that. It's all about the planning of the heist and I've never, not once, found this to be interesting. All you can do is hope that the characters are interesting enough to make the planning itself tolerable. I'll say this right off the bat, the only reason the film got the rating it did was because the heist itself was plenty exciting and had some good action sequences. Everything about the planning itself was terrible. Not terrible in that it was poorly written or executed, terrible in that it wasn't fun or interesting to watch. Can anyone honestly tell me they had fun watching these people plan this out? The characters are as one-dimensional as they could possibly be. That's part of the problem of the planning taking up all the time, it means that the characters have to take a backseat. These characters are something else. It all boils down to what everyone's role is in the heist. You have the leader, the tech nerd, the driver, the explosive experts, and the lockpicking expert, whose dad was murdered. That's really all there is to these characters. Nothing else. There's literally nothing else to these characters. Don't believe me, watch the movie. I realize not every heist movie can be Reservoir Dogs, which wasn't even really about the heist, it's about the aftermath of it, but can you at least try to make your characters more than just caricatures. Is it really THAT hard? And, of course, Mark Wahlberg and Charlize Theron end up together at the end of the film. Why the fuck not? I mean, there was never any sexual tension between them or any flirting so why not have them end up together. As you can see, I wasn't really into this movie at all. I don't mean to say it's bad, because it's not. But it is boring and uninteresting until the actual heist. Unfortunately, however, it's not like the heist itself is so great that it makes everything before it better. It really doesn't. I really wish I could put into words how uninteresting the planning and the characters were, but it's the type of thing where you'll have to see for yourself and just see how boring it really is. This would've been a below average movie if it wasn't for its last 20 or so minutes and its cast. So thankfully, that made the movie barely watchable. If it wasn't for those aspects, I could see myself giving this movie a much lower rating.

Smart and exciting, The Italian Job is a fun and entertaining heist film. In this remake, professional bank robber Charlie Croker puts together a crew to get revenge against a former team member that betrayed and killed his mentor. Starring Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Jason Statham, and Edward Norton, the film has an all-star cast that delivers solid performances. And the heist is fairly well-written, with some clever twists and exciting chases. However, the produce placement is overdone and at times the film plays as a commercial for the Mini Cooper. The Italian Job is a bit formulaic at times, but overall it's a lighthearted and enjoyable film.

The Italian Job is an exciting heist film that I really enjoyed. the story is is vengence film, but it worked in a way that we get to know the characters and grow to also like them, and so I enjoyed the story. They have a all star cast here with actors like Jason Statham, Mark Wahlberg, and Edward Norton and they were greatly picked for their roles. The chase scenes are fun and great and are also the main reason to watch the film. Although the movie was slow, The Italian Job is one of those heist films you can't help but just enjoy.
