A clever black comedy, It's a Disaster is sometimes uneven but the sharp writing and stellar ensemble cast keeps the film on track.

Jennifer M Love this movie - I've seen it 5+ times because it's just so simple, easy to watch, and great story. It's fascinating watching the characters' reactions to the situation at hand. People will say that America Ferrara's Barbie performance is her peak, but this movie with her in the background coming to center, she's clearly the star. Love every part of it. If you like low budget films, sci fi, this is an absolute must in your film repertoire. There are no big effects, no crazy scenes - just a reflection of characters in a really problematic situation. Conclusion: Don't exclude single friends from brunch and always show up on time. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/03/24 Full Review caden d This movie passed the ten-year test in my eyes a solid film nothing super special but a perfect twist to an apocalypse movie. I love the way it projects get-togethers and how no one actually likes being around each other but you feel obligated. and even when it all ends you cant get along. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/02/23 Full Review Audience Member I really wanted to like this, and I did enjoy some aspects of it, but the ending does really hurt it. Years ago, I found myself burned out on happy endings, and then I got my wish many times over. Today, I just need good writing, and this film raised questions that it was not prepared to answer...as if it just got distracted and forgot to follow up, and then slapped together a climax that was unsatisfying...and that can be funny sometimes, but in this case, it wasn't. I think it was a bit of a miss on the whole, but it was nice to see Julia Styles hasn't lost her touch. Would I recommend this? How bored are you? Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Brunch and the apocalypse.... not a bad combo, but which one is making the other more bearable is up for debate. The humor works well and it's not an entirely implausible scenario despite the gullibility with which they accept their predicament. Perhaps most surprising is that it doesn't become tired or wear thin and remains engaging throughout. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Seems like 90% of the dialogue was written just to eat up time. Weak characters. Dumb ending, too. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member If you could possibly entertain the thought that in a true crisis, surrounded by close friends, you'd all spend most of your time caught up in petty bickering, very few laughs, and denial, this is the movie for you. Well acted though. BTW definitive endings are now a thing of the past? Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Jason Bailey Flavorwire What an odd, funny, invigorating little movie. Jun 21, 2016 Full Review Kimberley Jones Austin Chronicle Berger's one to watch. Rated: 3.5/5 Apr 19, 2013 Full Review Rick Groen Globe and Mail The humour may not be wickedly black, but once in a while it's amusingly beige. Rated: 2.5/4 Apr 19, 2013 Full Review Jason Shawhan Nashville Scene It's a Disaster isn't an easy recommendation - none of this week's selections are - but it is a testament to the human spirit's ability to determine when it's fucking had enough. Sep 10, 2021 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com This one setting comedic extravaganza seems all the better for its tight containment, featuring an exciting concept, a hellaciously dynamite screenplay, and a group of talented actors all obviously having a good time. Aug 9, 2019 Full Review Di Golding Dear Cast and Crew It's the hell of couples brunch fully realized. I was amused as much as galled by the unapologetic narcissism and stunning lack of empathy exhibited by the characters of It's A Disaster. These are people who shouldn't survive the apocalypse.
