Samuel W I will admit, at first, this movie did not strike me at all like anything the Muppets have ever made. The first twenty or so minutes were confusing and felt off from the rest of the film. However, they found their footing, as they usually do, and the movie got exponentially better. The movie has a very sweet premise, albeit kinda dark for the Muppets, and it shows a new side of these beloved characters we hadn’t ever seen before. As always, the Muppets take us on a fun ride of cameos, zany acts, unfiltered chaos, and more! Plus, extra points for including the cast and set of Scrubs into the plot of the film, which increased my love for this film. (Scrubs being my favorite TV show and the Muppets being one of my favorite properties.) This movie was very sweet, even if it had its moments where I was uncertain as to why they included it into a Muppets movie. It's not that I don't like them, I just never really had an opportunity to get interested. So I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this Christmas special. It's got really clever dialogue and thankfully I didn't have to know anything about the Muppets to enjoy it. It riffs off of basically every Christmas-movie trope there is, sometimes more directed at specific movies than others, but it's always hilarious. In some ways it feels like a sketch comedy movie, where there's a loose overall plot but it's the smaller, individual scenes that drive the humor of the movie. It's stuffed with fun cameos and honestly I have no idea how they convinced so many famous people to be in this movie. It drags a little bit in the middle (like a lot of sketch comedy movies, or really even a lot of comedy movies in general), but for a "kid's" movie, it's really quite funny and has a lot of humor for adults to appreciate. brb, adding this one to my Christmas classics list.
