Cynthia Lowry Associated Press As in two past specials about Charlie, the half-hour animated show had charm, adult wit and wisdom. Sep 9, 2021 Full Review Harry Harris Philadelphia Inquirer It was a beguiling half hour, though small fry may have found some aspects distressing. But what other cartoon characters make you FEEL for them? Sep 9, 2021 Full Review Bettelou Peterson Detroit Free Press As usual, the Peanuts characters were captured with all their charm by the animaters in a completely delightful show. It's turning into a nice holiday TV custom. Sep 9, 2021 Full Review Justin Brown Medium Popcorn This was absolutely absurd to the point where it wasn't even fun. Rated: 1/5 Oct 30, 2024 Full Review Brandon Collins Medium Popcorn It doesn't make any sense, but it's entertaining and I laughed mightily hard... Rated: 3/5 Oct 28, 2020 Full Review Matt Roush TV Guide No matter how often we see it, we'll still be happy to wait in the pumpkin patch with Linus, and wait-for-it when Lucy pulls the football away from Charlie Brown, and delight when Snoopy is on the other end of the apple when Lucy goes bobbing. Ed R Even though this was made in 1966, it still stands the test of time! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/30/24 Full Review Santiago P After this special was released candy bags were sent to Schultz with notes that said "just for Charlie Brown" Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/27/24 Full Review matthias s *It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown* is a cute, charming, and timeless Halloween short that’s perfect for all ages. The soundtrack sets the mood wonderfully, and as someone who grew up with Snoopy, I’m always happy to see him steal the spotlight with his hilarious and memorable moments. However, while I enjoyed the nostalgia, I have mixed feelings about how the group treats Linus. His unwavering belief in the Great Pumpkin is heartwarming, but the way the others mock him feels a lot like bullying, which was uncomfortable to watch. It’s odd seeing such behavior normalized, especially in a family-friendly special. Still, Snoopy’s antics make up for some of the awkwardness, and Linus remains a character I truly sympathize with. I'm glad I revisited this classic, but the bullying dampened the experience. It’s enjoyable, yet leaves a slightly odd aftertaste. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/20/24 Full Review Keith N An absolute classic of a special Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/02/24 Full Review Andrew L To four generations (and counting), this was the first Halloween movie they ever saw. It's a timeless masterpiece that never goes out of style. Heck, it even teaches kids a lesson about World War I. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/10/24 Full Review Teddy B It isn't 'Peanuts' at its most retrospective or philosophical, but it is 'Peanuts' at its funniest and most tightly written.
