Robbie Collin Daily Telegraph (UK) How often can you say with reasonable confidence, after watching the first two minutes of a film, that the one hundred or so that are about to follow - 167, in this case - are going to be spectacular? William D It's a 169 minute pretentious snooze fest. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/18/23 Full Review Audience Member From the very opening which sets up and then upends expectations, The Tale of Iya creates a beautiful, yet harsh, world where fairytale and mundane realities intermingle. The movie doesn't always maintain a successful balance, definitely loses some of its charm (quite possibly intentionally) when we're transported to the city, and fails to keep us deeply involved for the entire running time, but its successful for so much of its running time that its well worth a visit.
