Sangeetha Devi Dundoo The Hindu The premise — an eccentric figure acting alongside official systems — had scope. But it needed tighter writing and more restraint. Jack does not quite pull it off. Apr 10, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

BRizz 2 Jack (2025) – a foreign action film recently released on Netflix – is yet another example of why I’ve been gravitating toward international cinema. Lately, these films have been pulling me in with their fresh perspectives, rich stories, and immersive worlds. Even with the language barrier, many of them manage to keep my attention fully — and Jack is no exception. What I really appreciated about this film was how it played with language balance. While the majority of the dialogue is in a foreign language (which required subtitles), the movie smartly weaves in English lines here and there. It’s subtle, but effective — just enough to re-ground you in the story and remind you that you’re still connected. It gives the viewer a momentary sense of relief and familiarity, without ever taking you out of the world it creates. But honestly, I love when a film is so visually and emotionally strong that you don’t even need to understand every word. That’s what Jack accomplished. The storytelling was powerful enough on its own — filled with nonstop action, tension, and character-driven moments — that the language didn’t feel like a barrier. It felt like part of the experience. The direction and writing stood out to me the most. There was an energy and rhythm to the way this film moved — not just through the action sequences, but in the quieter, more reflective scenes. You could tell the filmmakers had a clear vision and were passionate about telling this story. I found myself fully engaged the entire time. Watching Jack reminded me a lot of my all-time favorite foreign film, Sky Force. That one had helicopters and aerial adventure, while Jack delivers more hand-to-hand combat and gritty action. But the feeling? The excitement? The immersion into a world I’m not familiar with, but instantly drawn into? Exactly the same. This movie didn’t just entertain me — it transported me. And for that reason alone, I’d highly recommend it.
