Sohrab Ahmari Wall Street Journal [The film] benefits from Mr. Pearce's and Ms. Dusseldorp's understated and good-humored performances; the larger cast of characters, especially Jack's shady racetrack partners, provide additional comic relief. Aug 2, 2013 Full Review John Powers NPR's Fresh Air Irish's blend of old and new masculinity is perfectly conveyed by Pearce, who's not merely the best reason to watch these movies, but one of the best reasons to watch anything. Wendy S Guy Pearce's flawless assumption of the character Jack Irish is ao convincing that over the series he becomes a dear, if flawed and beleaguered, old friend. The plot weaves seamlessly in and out with supporting cast equally comfy and atmospheric Melbourne on great display. Witty dialogue and satisfying conclusions round out "the best detective series noone's ever heard of." Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/24 Full Review Audience Member Loved it. Want more. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Guy Pearce brings the late great Peter Temple's down at the heel gumshoe to life. I'll admit, when I first saw Pearce cast as Jack Irish I didn't buy it. But Pearce makes the character his own. Backed by a superb Aussie cast (special mention goes to Aaron Pedersen as the charismatic Cam) witty dialogue and some great Melbourne scenery, it's a must watch for anyone who likes stylish noir, well told. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member A terrific and engaging mystery series that has a tremendous amount of style, suspense, dark humor and action. A full-on and extremely exciting Australian noir. A stunning and mesmerizing crime-drama. Guy Pearce creates one of his best characters ever in one of his most exciting performances. A thrilling piece of television. It's the real deal; great storytelling and great acting. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Jack Irish is amazing! Can't wait for more to be made! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Enjoyed both Jack Irish films very much...bought both on DVD as soon as they were available.
