Firas A I'm baffled by the poor reviews of this movie. Although I admit there are some poorly executed plot points, the movie keeps you at the edge of your seat from start to finish. The dialogue has some faults as well but is overall intriguing and at times wonderfully disturbing. The creepy atmosphere and associated imagery is done nearly to perfection. Unfortunately, the ending was somewhat bland. Conclusively, this is a unique home invasion movie with a neat cult twist to it, like the strangers + the Sacrament (minus the commune). It's easily somewhere between 3.5 to 4 stars, definitely recommend it! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/04/24 Full Review Emilliano Jr S 7th Heaven meets The Strangers. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/29/23 Full Review Liam D An Home Invasion Thriller that falls into the cliches but it's a very quick and sometimes disturbing movie Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/10/22 Full Review Gianmarco R This film is horrendous, it has a plot of unspeakable banality and ugliness. Nothing about this movie really makes sense and everyone changes their minds too quickly, they change their minds too quickly and senselessly, really bad stuff not to watch. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/22/22 Full Review Audience Member I am curious as to know what type of persons are the one that have this movie Imdb and Metacritic overall scores so low? The movie brings new things to the Home Invasion subgenre of horror movies by complimenting it with cult horror. The movie constantly defy expectations and avoids landing in the same bits that many horror movied have landed before. I really thing this movie should be better appreciated. The opening is really good, reminiscent of Halloween's opening in a way. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member It was slow and plodding but honestly felt like it was building up to something interesting and awesome. Then it just ended. The twist that felt like it was coming never happened. It ended so abruptly and in a nonsensical place that, combined with the lack of any twist at all that could have made this memorable, ruined the movie for me. Some good performances and great visuals but ultimately did nothing with an interesting premise. A cult invade a home and kill everyone. Yawn. Katie Walsh Tribune News Service "Jackals" is a bit of style, almost no substance, and so scanty on the scares it's not worth the price of admission. Rated: 1/4 Sep 8, 2017 Full Review Christy Lemire RogerEbert.com The film's ultimate nihilism makes the whole exercise seem like an annoyingly pointless waste of time-even for a movie that's barely 80 minutes long. Rated: 1/4 Sep 1, 2017 Full Review John DeFore Hollywood Reporter Its run-of-the-mill standoff may appease some hardcore horror buffs, but it offers nothing to the rest of us and will likely be forgotten before the blood on the ground dries. Aug 31, 2017 Full Review Kieran McLoone Cultured Vultures It's not quite up there with the invasive horror of The Strangers or You're Next, but Jackals still manages to deliver enough genre-specific beats to make it worth a glance for hardcore horror fans. Rated: 6.5/10 Oct 10, 2019 Full Review C.H. Newell Father Son Holy Gore Greutert and Rivet craft a very human, devastating movie that will eat at the heart of anyone with even half of one. Rated: 4/5 May 3, 2019 Full Review Kat Hughes THN The idea -- is an interesting one, and adds a new spin on the home invasion film, it just fails to really land what it wants to achieve.
