Maria Vultaggio International Business Times Jackrabbit is exciting in theory, but lacking in execution. Feb 6, 2017 Full Review Jared Mobarak The Film Stage [Ranney and Douglas] seek to open the eyes of their characters and let the chips fall as they may. It's about giving their characters the tools to wake up and discover the dream is sometimes better. Rated: B+ Feb 24, 2016 Full Review Simon Foster Screen-Space Ranney and co-writer Destin Douglas have honoured the non-conformist stance of their protagonists and delivered a dark, thoughtful take on small-scale insurgent destabilisation. Audience Member Tried to give this clearly low-budget sci-fi movie the benefit of the doubt. I kept on waiting for it to make some sort of sense. Finally towards the end I realized it never would and I gave up on it before it even finished. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member It looked promising at first, but end up having zero substance. 90% of the movie is scenes of the characters doing nothing, sitting in a room quietly staring at each other, sleeping, or staring blankly. The world is very boring and dull. It tries to come off as having depth and mystery but unfortunately there was never a real story here to even be told. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Jackrabbit brings together an amazing low-tech 80's aesthetic with a pulsing hypnotic soundtrack and adds in fresh new actors to boot. Unfortunately, the slow pacing can make it hard to hook your attention sometimes. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Not a great film, but it is suprisingly better than I could ever have expected. It manages to take an apocalyptic theme and make it believable. It actually feels much the way I would expect the world to be following a world altering war. The main characters work well off each other. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Unbearably varied sound mixing is the only chief drawback to this neat, minimalist cyberpunk buddy trip. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Jackrabbit is not everything a movie could be; it's a minimalist statement of what a movies needs to be, no more, no less. Good acting, tight script, great editing and cinematography, a killer sound track and a suspenseful plot that grabs you and doesn't let go till to the end.. A THX1138 for millenials.
