When Jeannie (Barbara Mullen), an upbeat young Scottish maid, comes into a small inheritance from her father, she ventures to Vienna for the trip of a lifetime. Anxious to make the most of her journey, the slightly gullible Jeannie quickly spends all her money and finds herself tangled in a string of romantic dilemmas. As she adjusts to life in the big city, Jeannie meets Stanley Smith (Michael Redgrave), a charming washing machine salesman who steals her heart.
