Katie Walsh Los Angeles Times In the moments where she finally becomes angry, Heigl's pugnacious qualities serve her well; her rage is pure, cleansing and righteous in defense of her life. Jul 30, 2015 Full Review Jeannette Catsoulis New York Times One of the many irritants in this trite, well-intentioned lecture on tolerance: The audience is always several moves ahead of the script. Jul 30, 2015 Full Review Jordan Hoffman Guardian As a movie it is a complete misfire. The story, performances and editing choices range from predictable to risible. Rated: 2/5 Jul 30, 2015 Full Review Mae Abdulbaki Movies with Mae A film that isn't afraid of making its plot realistic and sympathetic, it thankfully shies away from having stereotypical characters. A strong drama that you won't be disappointed in seeing. Rated: 3.5/5 May 2, 2019 Full Review Mae Abdulbaki Punch Drunk Critics Jenny's Wedding is heartfelt and sincere in its execution. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 14, 2018 Full Review Jason Best Movie Talk Writer-director Mary Agnes Donoghue's heart is clearly in the right place... but Jenny's relationship with Kitty is so thinly sketched that it's the stumbling emotional journeys taken by the other members of her family that prove more engaging. Roger L A nice and warm comedy. Very good acting, especially from Grace Gummer (Anne). Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/27/23 Full Review Mia B I did because I really liked it. Only because there isn't enough "lesbian content", or relationship buildup between the two. Yes it would be great to see more of their relationship, but this film wasn't really about their relationship, it was about getting across what people of the LGBTQ+ community, even in this day and age still battle with, especially from family, parents who didn't grow up in a time as accepting as this new generation has. It's about parents who can be persuaded by others views, especially when pride gets in the way but seeing the mother and father, no matter how long it took, finally not turn their back on their daughter and blow up the life and friends they were once so scared of messing up because of their love of their daughter was more important. People make mistakes, they were wrong in taking so long but some people are not as fortunate with parents coming around. People lose family still. It made me really want to go and hug my mum and say "I know you messed up in the beginning but you came around, even in the time you didn't know how to handle it, you never turned your back on me". So yeah I cried when the mum realised she is still the same, and goes to see her and says she wants to be apart of the wedding and her life. My mum didn't want people to know at first cause it was embarrassing and "what would they think!?", But god! I am so thankful she is now accepting, close to my girlfriend, she even did the pendulum method and asked if my girlfriend and I will get back together. We did and still are. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Raji R I liked it. Gender stereotyping is so pervasive. This movie tries to show how much it makes people repress how they really feel. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review steve d It might not be perfect but its heart is in the right place. Well acted and really sweet. I was surprised how much I liked it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Can you even classify this movie as a lesbian movie? The answer is no. The acting was predictable and the writing is chalk full of lesbian clichés. The chemistry between Katherine Heigl and Alexis Bledel is nonexistent. The message of this movie is one of the few lesbian tropes but very poorly executed. There are plenty of other worthwhile lesbian movies to watch instead of this one.
