Steve F Jul 7 In my quest to watch EVERY Shudder exclusive, my one rule was I cannot turn the film off, no matter how bad. I think I'm breaking the rule for this one. I have never.. EVER.. been so bored in a movie. It is literally nothing but boys sitting on the ground looking glum and delivering philosophic lines like you might have written in a high school creative writing class. Absolutely nothing happens. I turned it off half-way because I kept falling asleep. Not sure I will ever go back and finish. For a movie about men sitting around looking glum, it never fails to impress with its shots' startling beauty. Even without any character development and few lines, Aomi Muyock is captivating both in attitude and costume. The plot, though thin, deftly gets around using almost all special effects, except for some effects which feel a little less necessary and more like an art-school project. Despite errors in execution, I felt hungry for more like this film and I wish this were a whole genre. See more 06/02/2021 Solid direction and cinematography; acting was great too. Story is what kind of fell apart; instead of exploring more of this dystopian reality these people live in, the film just piles on pointless subplots of relationships and lots of guys needed to be cradled and told "it's okay".
