I'm not quite sure why I watched this, I'm not even that religious. I was hoping to learn a bit more about Judas because I feel like the motivation for his betrayal would be very interesting. Unfortunately, it seemed more geared towards people who already know the story, which made me a little confused at times. I do have to say though, the music is pretty good and I appreciate the diverse cast.

John Legend, Brandon Victor Dixon, and Sara Bareilles are the perfect on-stage trio for this high-energy, amped version of Jesus Christ Superstar. In my opinion, this live-concert version is the best-recorded collaboration of JCS to date. From simple but effective costuming, to an elaborate stage, fantastic acoustics, and a modern approach, this live version provides more emotion than most stage versions that I've seen of the classic rock opera. One of NBC's greatest live recorded musicals of the past decade.

John Legend can't act and doesn't have the voice for jesus and Alice Cooper is horrible. Other than that every one else is great but it's not enough to save the production when jesus is bad.
