      Critics Consensus

It's hard to tell whether the lack of laughs in Jexi is a bug or a feature, but this AI rom-com is sorely in need of an OS update.

Audience Member This silly little comedy is shallow, predictable, cussy, ridiculous, and kind of scary. But at least it's all that in an entertaining kind of way. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Taj This movie was hilarious... My mother, sister and I laughed almost nonstop. It's definitely for a mature audience. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/08/19 Full Review Katelyn It was a silly stupid movie. It was funny and the underlying message was good. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/07/19 Full Review Marisel R It was a hilarious concept. I loved the jokes and Jexis orgasm scenes (both fake and explosive). My favorite line of Adam Levines was when he reprised hard pass it was an all around funny movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/03/19 Full Review Eileen The language was pretty bad & they could have left out the naked Pics for sure. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/03/19 Full Review Nancy M When we decided to see this movie I didn't think it was going to be that good but WOW did it surprise us. It was a great movie! Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald Workaholics' Adam DeVine and the disembodied voice of Rose Byrne are wonderfully puerile fun in this sweet but dirty-minded rom-com. Feb 12, 2020 Full Review Beatrice Loayza AV Club Surely, bland cultural insights can't defeat a film whose main attraction is the promise of stupid, raunchy fun? Reader, Jexi fails even at that... Rated: D+ Oct 14, 2019 Full Review Andrew Lapin NPR The stranded DeVine, for all his goofy charms as an actor, quickly exhausts our patience; he's in nearly every frame of this movie, and his screen partner is a phone, which means a hell of a lot of mugging for the camera. Oct 14, 2019 Full Review M.N. Miller Ready Steady Cut What makes this comedy mildly, and even unexpectedly, enjoyable is the voice work of Rose Byrne, who voices the virtual assistant, Jexi. Her comic delivery, while still robotic, is full of well-timed gems. Rated: 3/5 Aug 20, 2022 Full Review Salome Gonstad Comic Years If you go into this movie knowing it's a sometimes puerile romcom about embracing technology and some of the downsides to it, then you'll enjoy it more. Or at all. Aug 5, 2021 Full Review Laura Hindley Mediaversity Reviews The entire premise of Jexi, that a broken man needs to be fixed by a woman, has no place in modern-day filmmaking.
