Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times Since Jimmy the Kid is basically a kid's movie, it's too bad they didn't empathize more with the kids in their potential audience. Rated: 2/4 May 8, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member I figured since Gary Coleman has recently passed away I should watch one of his movies. I used to like Diff'rent Strokes & bought the first season but time has not served this series well & Coleman is sorta annoying. Trying to cash in on Coleman's popularity everyone in Jimmy the Kid is a buffoon expect Coleman that makes getting through this a chore. Even w/ a supporting cast that isn't bad including Pat Morita who is just wasted in this. Don Adams makes Maxwell Smart look fucking brilliant & Avery Schreiber doesn't even make hungry for Doritos. Painful comedy & a final punchline that makes me want to punch the writers of this right in the throat. Maybe I need to see On the Right Track or The Kid w/ the Broken Halo again (it's been a least a good 25 years). Perhaps they are better then I remember & serve Coleman some justice. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Miserable Diff'rent Strokes cash-in with bungling criminals kidnapping a precocious Gary Coleman for ransom and getting in over their head. Strictly kidstuff, they may enjoy Coleman repeatedly outwitting his captors and eating Twinkies for breakfast. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews
