Elvis E One of the greatest rock vocalist ever... a must see Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/29/23 Full Review Daphne B I have always loved his voice & music but didn't really know him or his journey. It was insightful, touching, funny at times and a little heartbreaking. I highly recommend it! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review jeff s I've been a big fan of John's since the 70's. Amazing Singer/Songwriter! This DVD is so great! I hope to see more DVD's from John in the future!!! My family also enjoys. It's never enough. Thank you John for all the great stuff you have done. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review sue h John Waite is a phenomenal singer/songwriter/musician. John Waite: The Hard Way provides an inside look at John Waite's musical journey. John's authenticity, honesty, and humility throughout the film is captivating. I smiled. I cried. I sang. The world is a better place because there are true artists like John Waite in it! My husband and I will be seeing John in concert in Port Huron, MI, in a few weeks. It is a bucket list item for both of us. After watching John Waite: The Hard Way, our anticipation for the concert is heightened beyond measure! Thanks for sharing your journey, John! P.S. My favorite album is also Temple Bar. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review martha w I didn't even realize how big a part of the soundtrack of my life John Waite's music was until watching this. Definitely shows you that staying true to yourself and your passion isn't necessarily (maybe rarely?) the easy path. There are a couple of scenes that so capture the way the pandemic brought life to a screeching halt - seen through one individual's slice of life, but you feel it in your gut and you feel what it's doing to him. Felt very pumped up by the end of the film, about hanging in there, about the power of music, just life! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Joe Truly one of the most honest, sincere, and humble views of a highly accomplished music artist that you will see on film. This documentary could have gone in many directions including mirroring others in the same genre which do usually focus on promoting the artist for how singularly great they are. For The Hard Way, John had to agree to be portrayed for how he really is which is authentic, human, vulnerable, and just a fun person at the same time. An artist that could feel the same impact and roller coaster set of emotions we all felt during a very challenging time. Credit goes to the director for putting together such an authentic and stylistic film (the use of the old western scenes are fitting based on John's introduction to music) and to John Waite for allowing himself to be filmed and shown at times to be emotionally real. Anyone who watches the last 25-minutes of this film that is not touched by John's moment of pure emotion (everyone who watches will know what scene I reference) simply has no feeling or empathy for other human beings. A must see for any fan of John, music in general and just great, captivating filmmaking at its best. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews
