Sheri Linden Hollywood Reporter The genre pieces are set up so clearly in Josie that they border on parody. Mar 16, 2018 Full Review Ed Gonzalez Slant Magazine Complicating Sophie Turner's character would have allowed the film to feel as if it had more on its mind than pulling the rug out from under us. Rated: 1.5/4 Mar 13, 2018 Full Review Nick Schager Variety Spends so much time trying to resemble a film noir that its refusal to engage in actual film noir business proves downright exasperating, a situation compounded by the eventual revelations it has in store. Mar 13, 2018 Full Review Niall Browne Movies in Focus A modern day noir, Josie is a film which only registers because of the performances from leads Sophie Turner and Dylan Mc Dermott. Rated: 2.5/5 Dec 29, 2018 Full Review Norman Gidney Film Threat Josie takes its Texas time meandering through the three-act structure that we've come to expect and the effect is actually an interesting thing to see happen in retrospect. Rated: 3/4 Mar 20, 2018 Full Review Michael Ordoña Common Sense Media Shallow noir thriller has strong language, drinking. Rated: 2/5 Mar 16, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member This movie is just bad! First, Sophie Turner's accent was not very good. I am very familiar with the accent and hers was very....generic. She wasn't helped by a poor script. Dermott was really the only bright spot in the film in the sense of his performance. This movie is very slow and the ending can be seen a mile away. It's simply a very dull film with a poor script. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Good watch, could watch again, but can't really recommend. This movie is a slow burn all the way through, just how it is, not good or bad, but some people don't like that. This is also a "mystery, not mystery" type of movie, where there is clearly something up from the very beginning that the audience is waiting on the movie to explain, but it happens slowly over the course of the movie, drip-feeding information ("Stoker" is a great movie that does that really well), but their isn't a detective character specifically trying to uncover the hidden details. The movie does some really good misdirection to lead on about certain aspects of the mystery, but most of the movie is Sophie Turner chatting up the guys in one capacity or another. While I think it's a good movie, I can see a lot of people not being interested in this one. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review farah r There's an interesting story under all the rubbish but is it worth digging up? The answer is no. Josie has the potential to be a decent thriller but it focuses on the wrong angles. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review mauro l It deceives of being against the death penalty; instead, it's just another revenge film. (Mauro Lanari) Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Kinda weird to go for paedophile as your choice for sympathetic lead, but you know, takes all sorts I guess. Final rating:â~...â~... 1/2 - Had a lot that appealed to me, didnâ(TM)t quite work as a whole. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member A lonely man with regrets, a punk teenaged boy with no regard for rules, and a girl who comes from nowhere who attracts them both with one glance. While this is supposed to be a "love triangle", the most done is vandalizing a car (and small boat) with spray paint and retaliation by slashed tire. The moment the man and the teen girl meet, you know the climax will be tying their pasts in some way. The plot is agonizingly slow and flat, no character depth, and the climax is as unexciting as the rest of the movie. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Read all reviews
