Cath Clarke Guardian There is so little visible chemistry between the actors you may not care either way. Rated: 2/5 Mar 16, 2021 Full Review Sam Inglis HeyUGuys The actors do what they can with a flawed screenplay and underwritten roles, but their efforts are further blunted by dull and drab visual choices. Rated: 2/5 Mar 23, 2021 Full Review Deirdre Crimmins HighDef Digest Neither exciting nor sexy, Josie & Jack takes a long cold look at a brother and sister and lets all of us come up with our own judgment on them. Rated: 3.5/5 Nov 26, 2019 Full Review Carey-Ann Pawsey Orca Sound Basically a recipe for disaster which you spend most of the film on edge waiting to happen. Krystle W I definitely recommend this film to anyone who read and appreciated the book. As the very few available reviews demonstrate, if you haven't read the book, you might not understand or appreciate the film. The book had an interesting way about it. Josie described the things she experienced in great detail while not delving deeply into how they made her feel - with the exception of Jack. Her everything revolved around Jack. And, with the exception of how she felt about Jack, the book let us feel what came natural to us as we saw through her eyes. I almost felt a sense of deja vu watching the trailer. Every person and place I saw in the trailer was exactly, exactly how I envisioned. It was eerie. It comes as no surprise that the writer herself was directly involved with the film. I've never seen more true-to-source-material casting and set. Usually you have to adapt to the film versions of the books you read, but this? This film WAS the book, come to life. I thought the acting, casting, directing and cinematography of the film were all wonderful. The only thing I wish had been done differently in the film is giving us more of the ending that the book did. This film is not for everyone. In my opinion, If you've read the book, watch the film. If you haven't read the book - read it first. I recommend them both. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/11/24 Full Review Read all reviews
