In a British colony in Australia in the 18th century, a group of female convicts are mistreated by their captors until the captain's wife comes to their rescue by shooting the women's attacker. When the prisoners and his wife go missing, the captain (Martin Phelan) assumes his wife's been kidnapped. He searches the Australian outback to find her, but instead he discovers an all-female collective carving out an existence away from society and the men that control it.
