Located off the coast of Costa Rica, the Jurassic World luxury resort provides a habitat for an array of genetically engineered dinosaurs, including the vicious and intelligent Indominus rex. When the massive creature escapes, it sets off a chain reaction that causes the other dinos to run amok. Now, it's up to a former military man and animal expert to use his special skills to save two young brothers and the rest of the tourists from an all-out, prehistoric assault.

Every Movie Has a Lesson

Just as the dictionary definition of "spectacle" states, the blockbuster is unusual, notable, and entertaining in an eye-catching, dramatic, and very public way. It is big, loud, and dumb, but, hot damn, it sure is fun.

The many nods to the first film were charming. The CGI is great. The rolling gyroscope balls scene is top tier. However, there are some glaring flaws. Once they show the dinosaurs, I no longer care about the constant cutting back to a teenage boy making flirty eyes of teenage girls in a theme park. The script is Sci-Fi Channel-level cheesy at points. The characters are flat and show zero development. It was decent overall and has some of the wonder-inducing magic of the first film, but it has annoying parts and ends up only decent for me.
