After their son Eric disappeared during a car trip from Ottawa to Colorado, Marilyn and William Wilson expected empathy and quick action from the police. Instead, they encountered indifference, incompetence and bureaucratic red tape from both Canadian and American authorities, and they eventually had to turn to a private investigator for answers. Using interviews and reenactments, this documentary reveals the excruciating difficulties the Wilsons faced in discovering the fate of their son.

Leaburn O Winner of the 1983 best documentary Oscar, this investigation into the murder of a 19 year old significantly predates the craze for Netflix crime documentaries. It is stilted and less dramatised than modern day documentaries of the same ilk but it is still a reasonably interesting story with a focus on police incompetence. Ahead of its time and a good watch. Saw it on YouTube. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/02/25 Full Review Read all reviews
