Alistair Ryder Gay Essential By taking the entire family's emotional journey into account, Rebekah Fortune has crafted a film that feels keenly realised and very much of the moment. Oct 8, 2018 Full Review Jason Best Movie Talk Just Charlie tackles the delicate subject of gender dysphoria with great sensitivity and grace. Rated: 4/5 Apr 30, 2018 Full Review Rich Cline Shadows on the Wall Gilby is simply terrific as Charlie, offering a beautifully understated performance that never plays to stereotypes. Rated: 4/5 Apr 30, 2018 Full Review Norman Gidney Film Threat While not perfect...a refreshing, original approach to material that could easily devolve into preachy, after-school special territory... a charming character piece that empathetically grapples with internal and external struggles we all have. Rated: 3/4 Mar 26, 2018 Full Review Danielle Solzman Solzy at the Movies With the way it approaches the emotional struggle for transgender youth and their families, Just Charlie hits really close to home. Charlie R Great Film. Just a Great and Emotional Film That shows what Transgender people often have to go through. Also I find it good that the Family Plays a Role instead of just being there Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/12/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a great film about a Trans UK teen girl transitioning. I know some people are worried about cis actors playing trans rolls and I tend to agree but the central performance here is a delight to see. It's such a shame just when it's needed most that this film has been totally removed from all media in the UK and is no longer available on dvd or to stream on any platform. It's like it never existed in Transphobic Britannia. I see it is available on Amazon in the USA and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to get and idea of the lives of trans kids. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member As a Transgender Woman, I Literally cannot recommend this movie enough, 7 minutes in I was in tears, and they continued till the very end. I absolutely hated this movie for all the right reasons, it was truly a glimpse into my reality and it was extremely difficult to relieve some of these moments. I cannot recommend this movie enough to anyone wanting a well-crafted insight into gender dysphoria. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Wow, I really wanted to love this movie, I really wanted to support a movie about this subject, but dang, the acting was weak. The main actor was okay, but some of the other support cast were over acting, and at times unbelievable. I think this movie is good to learn more about the subject, but having watched dozens of films about this subject over the years, I felt that it was a waste of time for my husband and I. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member It was an amazing film. I think they did a wonderful job, and this movie had me smiling, crying, and everything in between. GREAT MOVIE Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member If this movie were out like 20 yrs ago, it would be a good movie. The subject is a little old. The way of telling the story makes me uncomfortable. And things happen too fast without logic. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews
