Tony Asankomah GhMovieFreak Overall, “Just One Drink” feels like a very well-made short setting you up for a bigger world of drama filled with twists and suspense. Rated: 5/10 Mar 11, 2023 Full Review Anton Bitel Eye for Film as all the thematic strands of the film's first half are brought violently together in a symmetrical set of revenge stories, the viewer is left to pass divine judgment as to who is in the right, and who is in the wrong. Mar 17, 2016 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews The knockout film is too short to do more than provide a fine eerie atmosphere for its femme fatale story. Audience Member One of the worst shorts I've seen, but thankfully I didn't attend a festival to be subjugated to this.. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Lots of punch and suspense in 19 minutes! It's clear that much thought went into the storyline. A well executed twist accompanied by great cinematography, an eerie soundtrack, and great performances from the protagonists. I hope to see a feature length version of this in the future. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Pretty pathetic that the user reviews for a 19 minute short film is a target for Internet trolls. Some of the people giving bad reviews clearly have not seen it. Courtney Brannon is surprised that people are flocking to review this all of a sudden but maybe it's because it just premiered the other day on Cable TV... Austin Wiltern, who claims to have directed over a dozen short films isn't credited even on IMDb lol and clearly hasn't seen the movie since attention to detail in the film is actually something critics praised... Also, since the film is quite a slow burn in terms of the storytelling, it couldn't be more different from a commercial. Dilcia Loomis, who comments that the guy who wrote it probably had this fantasy one too many times clearly hasn't seen the film either as what actually happens in the movie could never ever be described as a fantasy. There are truly some miserable, jealous and insecure people out there. Or maybe it's just one person. Who knows? Anyways, as for the actual review of the film. The film is very good overall but definitely has a few weak points. The running time should have been cut down by a few minutes as the film tends to drag in certain places, especially the weed smoking scene. The acting is pretty good but I think the two stoner guys tend to overact in some of the scenes. Barbara Nedeljakova is clearly the stand out performer in the film. The original music in the film is truly the best part about it. Some of the tracks are simply outstanding. The story can get a little complicated at times but that is part of the charm of the film. There's so much information on screen that you can even learn new things on a second and even third viewing. The editing is definitely one of the weaker points of the film as it can be quite choppy at times. Where the film lacks in polish, it makes up for in a truly unique and groundbreaking story. You'd have to see it to know what I mean. Definitely recommend it. 8/10. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Just One Drink is a fun and intense short with a smart and unexpected twist. It's character arc is so solid that could easily be transformed into a feature. Two thumbs up!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Interesting people are flocking to "review" this after no activity for several months. Unbiased as I know no one in the making of this: If you're bored in the airport waiting to board your plane like I am, go for it. Otherwise, save yourself the time just because a one-time B list actress is in the headline. 1 1/2 at best. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member I've directed 4 national commercials and over a dozen shorts in my time, and this is a cross between a commercial gone bad and a millennial hobby piece with half-arsed attention to detail.
