And as this is an intense melodrama, we wouldn't have it any other way. Sexuality, infidelity, child favoritism, death, lying, stealing, drugs -- there are plenty of juicy morsels to wring the drama out of.

Kapoor & Sons is an all-embracing family drama that provides you an exhaustive emotional workout. Tears, smiles, laughs - this movie churns them all out of you in good measure. A refreshing difference from the glorified family drama movies of that time, Kapoor & Sons portrays real-life struggles families often face - infidelity, jealousy, acceptance among others. The cast is stellar with Rishi Kapoor, Ratna Pathak Shaw, Fawad Khan and Rajat Kapoor stealing the show. Sidharth Malhotra feels a bit mechanical at times while Alia Bhatt is a tad under-utilised as an actor. Clearly, this is Shakun Batra's finest movie. Kapoor & Sons is one of the best family dramas made since the 2000s. If you love emotional roller-coasters that leave you warm and fuzzy in the end, this one's for you!

I'll always come back to watch this film because well, first of all, it has Rishi Kapoor and Fawad Khan. I'd like to applaud Sidharth Malhotra's performance as well, but taking a pause as I'm always so flabbergasted by his on-screen presence that I forget to judge him, but will always remember what Arjun Kapoor (his character in the film) said that the inscription on his epitaph would be, "Aakhri baar likh raha hoon, ho sake toh kahani yaad rakhna."

I did not feel so impressed with this film like others as it has a hackaneyed way in dealing with certain conflicts.. Overall decent film with good performances.Siddharth characterisation lacked finesse as compared to Fawad's and also not everyone speaks Hindi in Ooty.
