Sidharth Malhotra

Indian actor Sidharth Malhotra was born on January 16, 1985 in Delhi, India. Raised in a Punjabi Hindu family, Malhotra graduated from Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, University of Delhi while building a modeling career. Unhappy with modeling he started auditioning for acting roles. He received praise as a promising young Hindi actor in the teen Hindi-language romantic comedy "Student of the Year" (2012). Malhotra's success continued with "Ek Villain" (2014). The romantic thriller was a huge financial success with critics praising his performance and likability even when playing a hardened criminal. In 2016 he was a member of the ensemble cast of the popular film "Kapoor & Sons", earning praise as one of two very different brothers returning home to the family when their grandfather has a heart attack. In the years following "Kapoor & Sons", Malhotra continued to get steady work in leading roles. While many of the films were considered box office flops, Malhotra consistently earned praise for his acting, even when other aspects of the films were found lacking. Amid the many delays of the COVID-19 pandemic, he starred in the war film "Shershaah" (2021). When the film was finally able to premiere it broke records as the most watched video in India on Amazon Prime. Similarly in his personal life, when he married fellow actor Kiara Advani in 2023, images from the traditional Hindu ceremony were the most liked Instagram post in India at the time.
