1937. Karmele and her family take refuge in France, after being forced to flee their home because of the Spanish Civil war. There, Karmele is contacted by the Basque cultural embassy in exile, whose aim is to fight the war using music and dance. This leads to her meeting Txomin, a professional trumpeter, who she falls in love with. After living for some time in Venezuela, the couple return home to fight against the dictatorship, with the hope of recovering everything that was taken from them.
