11/08/2011 This Hong Kong police film is more of a story telling and gets rounded up because the way the police officers assemble themselves and carry out orders, feels more like a documentary than an action movie, in terms of realism. I am not surprised if they had actually had an adviser from the Hong Kong Police to teach them the tactical side. Simon Yam has great screen presence, but somehow this flick fails to capitalise on that and with its paper thin plot line, Yam is left with little to work with. Looking forward to catching the next 3, hoping they would be better See more 08/02/2009 this time, the ptu crew deals with a case of unnecessary violence against a suspect. while the usual group goes searching for the gangster "victim", they get their friend in trouble and this leads to a search for both friend and enemy. not too much action, but the adrenaline flows all around while the cops hunt the "victim"-turned-fugitive and runs amok in the station. definitely not something to watch before bedtime! See more 07/21/2009 The first of the sequel TV movie series of PTU (2003). It is made for TV, so cinematic attractions that the original one had are pretty much lost. Screenplay is not bad, but there are not many characters you can assimilate yourself to, mainly because it is all focused on relationships inside the police. This series is still valuable because it is new style of real cop drama. See more 06/09/2009 Made with a shoestring budget compared to Johnnie To's original 2003 feature, TV spinoff Tactical Unit: The Code turns out pretty bland for a Milkyway production. All the stylish but costly extravaganza of PTU (except perhaps for Simon Yam's creased shirt) are long gone, which forces director Law Wing-cheong and writer Yip tin-shing, who both have proven themselves before in various Milkyway projects and other, to reinvent and reimagine things, ditching the noir for a soap opera feel. Which actually works fine, since the characters are given more room to develop in this new and more free context than in the superstylized and controlled original. A fresh start for the series.
