alan g Very good movie. Outrageous plot but excellent cast makes it work. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/08/24 Full Review All star cast, witty script, great direction from Brian G Hutton. One of Eastwood's best projects. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/24 Full Review Gee K A totally offbeat WWII movie. Not much truth about it, but that's the point. It's a story of the perfect robbery. And the thieves are not villains. The Nazis have a stash of stolen gold in a bank behind enemy lines. Is it illegal, then, for the U.S. troops to try to rip it off? The casting of the central characters is absolutely perfect. Rickles is Rickles; Savalas is Savalas; Eastwood is, of course, Eastwood. And Donald Sutherland is... a 1960's peace and love hippy who is time warped into commanding a squadron of tanks. You have to see it to understand. Not meant to be taken seriously. Just meant to be thoroughly enjoyed for what it is. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/28/23 Full Review TWMax65 What can I say?? I love watching Nazis get shot and blown up every chance I get! The action in this movie was very well-done and so was the build up to some of it. Some of the humor landed, however at times the film does feel a little dated. Nevertheless, the acting and directing are really good and it's just amazing that actors like Clint Eastwood shined as much as he did in so many unforgettable legendary movies! Donald Sutherland remains a very underrated actor and deserves a lot of recognition for his career as well. It's really cool to think about how this movie could've been a potential influence for later WWII movies to come out that are just as good if not better (such as Inglorious Basterds or Saving Private Ryan). You can definitely see the overlap and pattern of inspiration. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/25/23 Full Review Robert M One of my all-time favourites. WWII bank heist comedy. It has it all. The cast is stellar, full of legends from a time when Hollywood was worth something. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/06/23 Full Review Nol P Putting aside the corn and the over the top silliness, Kelly's Heroes is still an overall fun movie to watch. Calm and cool Eastwood as usual holds this movie together. Donald Sutherland is funny at times but with many other times just way overacting with some cheese and the corn. The soundtrack choices too were just out of left field and wow did they ever make all the Nazi army so oblivious! I still present this movie as a 7.5 out of 10 and it was good to finally watch again after over 25 yrs of not seeing it until today. I also enjoyed the authentic tanks and movie sets to give it the 7.5 rating. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Dave Kehr Chicago Reader An attempt to blend the war epic and the caper film that doesn't quite come off. Nov 19, 2013 Full Review David Parkinson Empire Magazine The action is flashy and intermittent, deliberately wallowing in a mire of revisionist grot, churned up vistas of European mud. Time has made it more intuitive and caustic a film, than its daft reputation might suggest. Rated: 3/5 Nov 19, 2013 Full Review Variety Nearly satirical in its overall effect, plot caroms between cliche dogface antics, detailed and gratuitous violence, caper melodramatics, and outrageous anachronism. Oct 18, 2008 Full Review Leigh Paatsch Herald Sun (Australia) The usually unemotive Eastwood is more engaged than usual, clearly having a whale of a time with a fruity support cast. Rated: 3/5 May 12, 2020 Full Review Richard R. Harmetz Los Angeles Free Press Even with Eastwood in the title role, this poorly scripted film would surely have fallen apart under the weight of its own heavy handedness were it not for the presence of Donald Sutherland. Jan 14, 2020 Full Review Film4 A terrific guys-on-a-mission movie. Nov 19, 2013 Full Review Read all reviews
