Audience Member A Cinematic Disaster that's way more interesting than most Cinematic Masterpieces can ever hope to be. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Even though the story is set on a soccer pitch, "Kickoff" does not have much to do with sport -- but it is fun. There are moments of humor and the character played by Rikki Beadle Blair is fabulous. None of the other characters really seem to connect, and the dramatic situations confronted by the characters throughout the film are too underdeveloped for the audience to care much about. "Kickoff" exudes low-budget amateurishness, albeit in a way that is still charming. It's a nice film, if not a particularly good one. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member What a load of rubbish, didn't even make it to the end!!! Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Somewhat stereotypical, still an amusing way to spend 90 minutyes. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Different, funny. Instead of the opposing team being villainous, each individual turned out to be funny and complex as well as the heroes. I also liked how the single football (soccer to us Americans) match played out over the entire movie. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Kickoff is proudly and offbeat film. It is an unexpected pleasure. The plot centers around an English football match between a gay team, Platoon, and a straight team, the Bethnal Reapers. The script is incredibly witty and character-driven, successfully capturing the most exciting moments of this singular afternoon match-up. The performances are spot-on, offering a duality of realism and caricatured qualities to each individual team member. If you're looking for an unexpected treat, from film makers who have taken care to humorously capture each subtle moment of this odd afternoon match-up, then add "Kickoff" to your must-see list!!
