Audience Member Klassic `80s goofball action which lines up the cliches one after another with incredibly contrived fight scenarios, stock characters, macho dialogue, San Jose doubling for Viet Nam in flashback, a tinny lounge-funk score, and pleather couch-spanking sound fx. `Nam vets must re-assemble the squad, which of course involves obligatory fights introducing each. The premises for bash-ups are hilarious - pimpin' issues, (for a black guy, of course) a $1 debt infuriates the weightlifter; the Asian has unpaid landscaping; gold-bricking construction workers for the low-rent whitey; unsatisfactory machine parts, (for a black guy, of course!?) and angry investors for the upscale, leisure-suited honky. They all demo katas for the squad commander, with lots of ersatz, mystical Asian flute music and over-sold, exotic weapon forms. Then, it's back to the constant barrage of fights and funk. The surprise twist is incredibly telegraphed, which is all part of the nonsensical fun. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member One of those best worst movies that you come across every now and again. Also, I love how EVERYONE knows kung fu, whether it be used car dealers, construction workers, pimps, you name it, they all know it. Bad ass!
