Ed Koch The Atlantic Killing Kasztner will cause you to weep, even without displaying heartrending concentration camps scenes. Jan 17, 2018 Full Review Moira MacDonald Seattle Times Did he truly sell his soul, or was he just, as a family member says in the film, the wrong kind of hero? The film fascinates even as the man himself remains elusive. Rated: 3/4 Jul 15, 2010 Full Review Kimberley Jones Austin Chronicle There are deeply complex issues afoot here -- most especially the question of how a country and a people decides who will be its heroes -- and this amateurish film, with its tabloid-TV zooms and hokey visual metaphors, simply isn't up to such complexity. Rated: 2/5 May 7, 2010 Full Review Laura Hiros Rincón de cine An impressive documentary, full of intrigue, heroism and of course a halo of mystery that only true stories can offer. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 3/5 Mar 21, 2018 Full Review Clint O'Connor Cleveland Plain Dealer Gaylen Ross's excellent documentary explores how a forgotten hero of the Holocaust became a political target in Israel. Rated: A Apr 27, 2010 Full Review James Verniere Boston Herald The 2008 documentary "Killing Kasztner: The Jew Who Dealt with Nazis" is more the latter, and it arguably makes one wonder if there is such a thing as Holocaust minutiae. Audience Member Excellent documentary that meticulously tells the story of the largely unknown WWII personality Rudolf Kastner. It's shocking to me that with the success of "Scheindler's List" that Kastner's story hasn't received more attention. In many ways I think the Kastner "drama" is far more interesting and just as significant. What makes this piece so unique is how the director makes extensive use of Kastner's killer. I can't recall another documentary where an assassin (who isn't clinically insane in some way) has "positively" participated in the telling of their crimes. The scenes of this man meeting his victim's daughter near the end of the film are riveting. Informative, dramatic, and important...you won't be dissatisfied with this outstanding documentary. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member The story of Dr. Rezső Kasztner, a Hungarian Jew who negotiated with Adolf Eichmann for the lives of thousands during the Holocaust. And a tragic trial and verdict that stamped him as the "man who sold his soul to the devil." Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Read all reviews
