Critics Consensus

Fitfully amusing and earnest without ever finding a comedic groove, Kinda Pregnant's best efforts can't overcome the issue that its story is kinda icky.

Helen O'Hara Empire Magazine A few moments of emotional honesty between mothers are the only bits worth watching, but they're too scant to save this mess. Rated: 2/5 Feb 19, 2025 Full Review Dana Stevens Slate The script of Kinda Pregnant, co-written by Schumer and Julie Paiva, misses chance after chance to explore the real emotional issues raised by its highly artificial premise. Feb 11, 2025 Full Review Mick LaSalle San Francisco Chronicle As long as the emotions, terrors and humiliations are big, she’s funny, and [Schumer's] latest, “Kinda Pregnant,” gives her lots of opportunities to be funny. Rated: 3/4 Feb 8, 2025 Full Review Tara Ariano Cracked Kinda Pregnant is as focused on the reality as I should have expected a movie by two mothers, at least one of whom has definitely been pregnant, would be. Rated: B Feb 20, 2025 Full Review Lee Zumpe Tampa Bay Newspapers The script is an awkward mashup of incompatible comedic styles, as if a teenage Seth MacFarlane tried writing Nora Ephron fan fiction. Feb 20, 2025 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...a larger-than-life premise that is, for the most part, employed to genial, watchable effect by Spindel... Raven R First review I’ve ever left for a movie. The script was childish and acting was sub par. Overall very cringey. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/30/25 Full Review Laura B Absolutely god awful. Literally hated this film. Amy Schumer is unbearable throughout. It's not remotely entertaining. Not "so bad it's funny" either, total and utter crap. Can't believe this ever got made. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/29/25 Full Review Skyla B I went in expecting it to be awful but in a funny way However it was so painfully unwatchable I managed to get 34 minutes in before I lost my will to live. Jokes aren't funny to the point I wouldn't consider it a joke Amy Schumer is the most unlikable character in this entire movie and your forced to watch her in it's entirety but with no growth or reason to root for her. I hope you never have the displeasure of watching. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/29/25 Full Review Audience Member This movie is unwatchable. The characters and scenes are highly unrealistic. The only way we got through this movie was to play it on 1.5x speed. The main character is absolutely INSANE, completely illegal things happen ALL THE TIME and nobody actually cares about anything. I would not recommend, it wastes your time, like, fully, you should not watch this, and you'll just get traumatized and get nightmares for the next months. This movie sets an unrealistic picture about pregnancy and pregnant women. If you do not want to see a room full of farting women (or screaming if you will) I will say this again, DO NOT WATCH THIS CRAP. thank you for reading this review, stay safe. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/28/25 Full Review Audience Member Not enough action. Cinematography is a little bad but good in some points, Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/27/25 Full Review Jakeem B Amy Schumer’s humour and acting feels dated, very much stuck in 2018 lol… That being said, it’s not horrible and actually kinda funny Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/25/25 Full Review Read all reviews
