Championing nonviolent protest during the civil rights movement in the American South, Martin Luther King Jr. (Paul Winfield), a Baptist minister, becomes one of the most powerful and inspirational leaders during the turbulent era of the 1950s and '60s. However, being at the top only makes King more of a target, as he is always under threats from law enforcement officials, politicians and bigots. Never backing down from his lot, King undauntedly fights for equality, despite the personal risk.

Audience Member Although it lacks the polish that a (well overdue) theatrical version would carry, this is nevertheless a great testament to one of the greatest men of the 20th century, with Paul Winfield perfectly cast as MLK; his orations almost matching King's and able to show his personal side with equal conviction. This deserves far greater recognition than what it has. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews
