Boyd van Hoeij The Hollywood Reporter Though the film doesn't dig all that deep politically, it features quite a few solid laughs ... Sep 9, 2016 Full Review Sara Martínez Ruiz Espinof An exercise of artistic freedom, in short, culminating in an unpretentious film, sometimes fun, sometimes not so much, but certainly never seen before. [Full Review in Spanish] Aug 14, 2019 Full Review Cathy Brennan One Room With A View The humanity of its characters and the originality of its premise make it a most refreshing watch that will go down a treat for anyone looking for something on the lighter side. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 2.5/5 Aug 16, 2017 Full Review Anders Furze 4:3 A light, somewhat diverting romp through the Balkan states, as experienced by a group of bumbling-if-ultimately-kind-hearted Belgians on the loose. Rated: Recommended Jul 24, 2017 Full Review Filipe Freitas Film Threat King of the Belgians is an undemanding offbeat caricature that turns up politically concise in its sayings, yet considerably stinging in its depictions. Audience Member This is a delightful, small scale comedy for whom the word "quirky" could have been invented. The pathos gives it a depth which enables it to transcend what is essentially a caper movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member My husband and I both loved this movie-- a mockumentary. It is an improbable roadtrip by a monarch and his staff, who are accompanied by a filmmaker. During the road trip, the King reflects upon duty, personal freedom, happiness, the loving as well as the dark side of life. There are scenes of beauty and transcendence-- characters occasionally look like a part of a still life or tableau. This movie manages to be funny-- sometimes laugh out loud funny and other times just droll-- as well as thoughtful. You are left contemplating what it means to be alive and free. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Excellente film, vraiment drôle, super bien joué et réalisé. On a du mal à penser que ce n'est qu'un film et pas un vrai documentaire qui foire complètement. On rigole, on réfléchit, on s'attache. Et surtout, une des bien trop rare fois où on a vraiment l'impression d'être face à de la culture proprement "belge", la vraie, celle du meltingpot audsi bien francophone que flamand qui fait la part belle au second degré. Je le conseille plus que vivement! :-) Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
