Empire Magazine Rated: 3/5 Sep 24, 2005 Full Review Paul Dale The List This solidly watchable slab of insider histrionics and strained morality rarely surprising, nor particularly original. Rated: 3/5 Apr 26, 2019 Full Review Matthew Turner ViewLondon King's Game is adapted from a novel by political insider Niels Krause-Kjoer and as such, the script has an air of seasoned authenticity about it. Rated: 4/5 Sep 24, 2005 Full Review Boyd van Hoeij european-films.net One would never guess that it was made by a rookie director. A ride of nail-biting suspense and unsuspected insight. Audience Member A bit contrived as these plot lines tend to be. Lars Mikkelsen is wasted given his minimal screen time-he's rather good at playing the part of a slimy POS. Overall, a very good effort worth watching. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member A very well acted and directed political drama. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Nice - house of cards feeling in the movie Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Intelligent political thriller...Very good start for the director Nikolaj Arcel. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member King's Game takes its time to ensure it delivers one message to you; there are hunters, and there are prey. For the rest of the hunt you'll be watching both trying to figure out which they are. If you can tell then you're doing well! With a level of acting seamless enough to make you forget it's acting, a score that's replaced its strings section with tension & tease and cinematography that understands how to revel in the subtleties of a character, it stands out as a film with direction, confidence and merit earned on its own terms. If you're bored by good-guy / bad-guy political showpieces eager to explore burning moral dilemmas (yuk!) then this is the antidote you've been looking for. I almost don't want to recommend it, because then I might run into someone and say "hey have you seen Kongekabale? It's ab--- oh you've seen it?... Damn." Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member A gripping political drama that reminds one of a John Grisham book. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews
