      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

It's pure formula, but thanks to its breezy pace and a pair of charming performances from Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz, Knight and Day offers some agreeably middle-of-the-road summer action.

Audience Member Love this movie. It is hilarious. “ with me, without me”. Too funny Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/29/24 Full Review Audience Member This movie, possibly because general movies these days suck, has aged rather well. Cameron Diaz is a worthy match for Tom Cruise and does all the stuns with him. Funny movie and good action. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/29/24 Full Review Giorgio G I just love it. Whenever it pops up on cable I can't refrain from watching at least 20-30 minutes again, though I have seen it many times in full already. Tom's charme and her sexappeal are there all the time. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/04/24 Full Review Allan C Lately, I've been going back to watch big blockbuster action films I skipped when they originally came out and this Tom Cruise / Cameron Diaz action comedy was one of them. I skipped this because Tom Cruise seriously bugs me, even though I usually enjoy his movies despite him. In this film, Cameron Diaz plays a regular gal who gets mixed up with disavowed secret agent Tom and comedy ensures ALA BIRD ON A WIRE or MR. AND MRS. SMITH. Cruise's secret agent is similar to Peter Falk's character in THE IN-LAWS, where you weren't sure if he was telling the truth or just full of it. Directed by James Mangold, who'd previously made the excellent COP LAND and WALK THE LINE, and who would later go on to direct LOGAN and FORD V FERRARI, so we're in good hands, though the script doesn't offer much in terms of character or story and it mostly just goofy action. Overall, it's not bad, but it's certainly not a film I'll ever feel the need to revisit. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/31/23 Full Review Julie G I think I saw a different movie than most reviewers. This is one of my favorite rewatchables! I've seen it a bunch and it always delivers a perfect blend of action and comedy. Diaz and Cruise are great together and I LOVE Tom Cruise's character, I've never see him play an action hero with a personality like this, light-hearted, empathetic and fun. How do you make an action movie with a rom com vibe? They did it. I guess its not a total crowd pleaser, but for me, 2 thumbs way up. The only weak spot, I thought, was Viola Davis. I think she is one of our greatest living actresses, but maybe she requires a character with more layers and depth, as I thought she came off kind of cheesy in this role. She's still among the best, but not here in my opinion. Everyone else and the story, the script, the whole thing, love it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/20/23 Full Review Kevin R Very clean very fast very loose. Fun and goofy. Could be seen as an Ethan Hunt side quest. Dec 29, 2020 Full Review Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online Knight and Day is a bit too long (one too many plot twists that made you just not care by the end) but it's fun though predictable thrill ride.
