Down on his luck, George Kuffs (Christian Slater) is a broke young man with a pregnant girlfriend (Milla Jovovich). Desperate for money, he travels to San Francisco to visit his older brother, Brad (Bruce Boxleitner), to ask for a loan. Their reunion is short-lived, however, since Brad, who operates an auxiliary police unit, is murdered. Intent on bringing his sibling's killer to justice and continuing his patrol, George uncovers a network of corruption and sets out to expose those involved.

Very surprised by the negative reviews, I finally watched it and genuinely had fun with it. A laugh out loud comedy with Christian Slater breaking the fourth wall Ferris Bueller style. Slater is actually pretty good as is a (pre- The Fifth Element) Milla Jovovich. Along with a solid supporting cast of recognised film and tv actors. Some of the comedy doesn't work the scene with Tony Goldwyn reacting to sleeping medication goes on far too long. It's also very 90s with bad guys having the shooting ability of Stormtroopers when it comes to trying to shoot the hero. Still if you want something to watch with brain on neutral would highly recommend it.

A poor man's "Beverley Hills Cop", with a pretty awful and uneven script saved only by the charisma of Slater. But what really dates this feeble action comedy is the dreadful 80s signature score by Harold Faltermeyer, and his tedious synthesizers. The characters I really couldn't care about purely because they were so poorly defined and never crawled out of the 1st dimension. And the story was about as involving as painting a white wall with white paint using a toothbrush blindfold. 102 minutes I will not get back again.

Synopsis
