Sam Ho Film Comment Magazine Chow is a genius in generating extraordinary drama from the familiar. Nov 19, 2013 Full Review David Ansen Newsweek So disarmingly eager to please that only a stone-faced kung fu purist could object. Nov 1, 2007 Full Review Ken Tucker New York Magazine/Vulture Chow's movie may seem nutty on the surface, but its slyness, its dreamy unfolding of so many moods and genres, becomes intoxicating. May 12, 2006 Full Review Carla Monfort Espinof ... Jay D You think you know what to expect, but you DON'T. This is a surrealist flick. It's fun & creative. It's cartoonish. It uses special effects. It's a tall tale. It's reminiscent of Adventures of Baron Munchausen in its level of illogical impossibility. Power struggles between overpowered Kung Fu masters and mistresses. Various Martial Arts styles are demonstrated, including many fictional styles and advanced methods of attack. This will keep you worried -- are your skills up to par? are they next level? If not, don't even try to fight some of these characters -- don't even think it!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/02/25 Full Review Cees T Yet another Matrix ripoff, this time set in the robber baron 1920s, except in China with effect tributes to Looney Tunes, The Shining, and X-Men. 4/10 - Lacks focus and likable leads. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/30/25 Full Review Craig H What an absolutely pleasant surprise that was! One of the most creatively insane movies I've ever seen, the action and choreography was as good as anything in Hollywood but with flair, the comedy was quite funny at times and it flew by the 90 minute run time. It was like a Kung Fu Naked Gun movie with amazing action, crazy characters and loads of charm. Loved it Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/29/25 Full Review Carlos M De las mejores películas de acción-comedia que he visto el hecho de que allá actores de futbol shaolin me gusto mucho y reconozco que si me llegue a reir mas de una vez espero en un futuro hagan mas películas asi Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/28/25 Full Review sharuk i Masterpiece Era of action Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/12/25 Full Review Audience Member ts was so goated it aint even funny. a little violent and gory, sure, but you gotta watch it it's actually lit.
