When the hapless Sing and his dim-witted pal Bone try to scam the residents of Pig Sty Alley into thinking they're members of the dreaded Axe Gang, the real gangsters descend on this Shanghai slum to restore their fearsome reputation. Kung-fu Hustle is kitsch and focuses more on style and drama than the story itself. But all this is never boring as it all breezes through without saying so (an elemental part of original action and humor).

You think you know what to expect, but you DON'T. This is a surrealist flick. It's fun & creative. It's cartoonish. It uses special effects. It's a tall tale. It's reminiscent of Adventures of Baron Munchausen in its level of illogical impossibility. Power struggles between overpowered Kung Fu masters and mistresses. Various Martial Arts styles are demonstrated, including many fictional styles and advanced methods of attack. This will keep you worried -- are your skills up to par? are they next level? If not, don't even try to fight some of these characters -- don't even think it!!

Yet another Matrix ripoff, this time set in the robber baron 1920s, except in China with effect tributes to Looney Tunes, The Shining, and X-Men. 4/10 - Lacks focus and likable leads.

What an absolutely pleasant surprise that was! One of the most creatively insane movies I've ever seen, the action and choreography was as good as anything in Hollywood but with flair, the comedy was quite funny at times and it flew by the 90 minute run time. It was like a Kung Fu Naked Gun movie with amazing action, crazy characters and loads of charm. Loved it
