Critics Consensus

Kung Fu Panda 3 boasts the requisite visual splendor, but like its rotund protagonist, this sequel's narrative is also surprisingly nimble, adding up to animated fun for the whole family.

Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com Kung Fu Panda 3 concludes on a definite high note, filled with eye-popping animated set pieces as well as thrilling story beats that I was perfectly entertained by. Rated: 3/4 Aug 16, 2016 Full Review Roxana Hadadi Chesapeake Family Magazine Kung Fu Panda 3 revisits the same themes as its predecessors ... But that familiarity doesn't lessen the film's emotional impact and solid laughs. Rated: 4/5 Aug 2, 2016 Full Review Geoffrey Macnab Independent (UK) It may serve up exactly the same mix of mayhem, noodles and dumplings as the first two films in the series, but Kung Fu Panda 3 is still energetic and wildly entertaining fare. Rated: 4/5 Apr 1, 2016 Full Review Sebastian Zavala Kahn Me gusta el cine The biggest problem with “Kung Fu Panda 3” is tone: while the first two films WERE funny, the third film TRIES to be funny with too much hyperactivity and “gags” everywhere, saturating the viewers instead of making them laugh. Rated: 2.5/5 Mar 16, 2024 Full Review Jana Monji Age of the Geek While this is the weakest of the now four feature films, it does give Po his father and show his two fathers negotiating team parenting. Po must find his chi and fight jade zombies with the help of his biological father's panda village. Rated: 3/5 Mar 13, 2024 Full Review Rolando Gallego EscribiendoCine Kung Fu Panda 3 continues centering its potency on gags and slapstick humor... Ben W It’s a good and fun movie. Not quite as good as the previous two, but a worthy entry in the franchise. Recommend for sure. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/24 Full Review Griffith J Potential that’s never used. It’s painfully safe & predictable. Undeveloped plot points with lots of copy & paste from earlier entries. It looks good & has an awesome score but the villain is cheap & solid themes are brushed over. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/03/24 Full Review Hai B The whole series was made for a trilogy and I think this should be its finale instead Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/29/24 Full Review Nick R It's a solid sequel that has everything that was great about the first 2. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/27/24 Full Review Blu B An Animated Comedy Adventure Classic. More importantly what a great conclusion to the original trilogy. It serves as a great bookend to one of the greatest trilogies ever made in animation and movies in general. One coulda argue also it's a contender for greatest suprise franchise ever also in terms of insane quality. The voice acting, animation, and music is amazing and doesn't miss a step. At times it's arguably the most visually dazzling of the whole trilogy. The villian is really cool, Po's father is good, and this does what a sequel is supposed to do. The editing and pacing are really good here but this isn't AS flawless as the first two. When this focues on the main villian story it's amazing. When it starts focusing on Po "learning" Chi from the Pandas and his father is where it takes a dip in quality. It feels like stuff just happens more like comedic gags than anything meaningful for a little bit. The other Pandas also are a bit on the forgettable side but granted no serious attempt is made at giving them depth beyond his father either. It can become a bit too light hearted at times though the other two had plenty of humor and were fun family adventures as well. This one in the middle can be a bit too light hearted fora bit. The message also can be a bit confusing as well at times and I feel like it isn't really sure what it wants to say at times but it does make enough sense in the end and is heartfelt. The pinky move on himself at the end was bit ridiculous and farfetched too but besides that it's so wonderfully animated and does a great job exploring and devloping ideas that it can be overlooked. Anyone who is a fan of the franchise, any actors in this, or animated flicks should check this out. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/17/24 Full Review Zion C This movie is in my opinion the best kung fu panda out of all. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/06/24 Full Review Read all reviews
