After being injured in a freak accident while on the run from the police, troubled teen Neekos (Esai Morales) finds himself in the hospital. A routine x-ray reveals to Dr. Elaine Hammond (Janice Rule) that Neekos has lymphosarcoma -- a life-threatening cancer. In a panic over the diagnosis, Neekos acts out, igniting the ire of embittered nurse Margot (Carrie Snodgress). But soon the young man befriends Jack (Charles Bail), a middle-aged pilot facing his own cancer diagnosis.
