Audience Member Duvivier's foreign legion tale is a bit over-the-top but still contains many of the director's trademark flourishes. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member If Americans, Brits, etc. join the French Foreign Legion to forget and escape the past, what do the French join? The Spanish Foreign Legion obviously. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member it's no pépé le moko but it's a whole lot of fun. the film opens as gabin flees the scene of a murder which is never fully explained. soon he's in barcelona, cavorting with topless dancers and drag queens, pretty risque even for a french film of the period. however he soon tires of looking over his shoulder and joins the spanish foreign legion, a fighting force where names are assumed and no questions asked. his troop heads for morocco, where he falls in love with a bedouin dancer, played by annabella with henna tattoos, but all the while someone is on his trail... Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member good stuff just love gabin he was the first gerard depardeau. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews
