See more 09/13/2011 A self-conscious exercise in surrealism from Robbe-Grillet. One of those films perhaps best left for "random middle of the night weird movie viewings", as plotwise it is pure nonsense but has some striking visual imagery, notably the references to Magritte paintings. Unlike some of the best dream-logic films it never feels like there is a solid foundation to the film, and feels like arty/sexy/fetishy strangeness for strangeness sake. See more 05/02/2011 Alain Robbe-Grillet does his thing again See more 03/20/2011 One way to describe this movie as "bizarre" (which is kind of funny as being French-language film, you actually hear the characters use the word on a few occasions). The story (if you can call it that) develops in a dream-like fashion, kind of like a David Lynch movie. Nothing really makes sense, but is it really supposed to, if it's a dream? The director masterfully misleads the view into thinking he's following a story as all of a sudden everything is thrown up in the air and nothing makes sense anymore.
