Vladan A The whole movie is laughable. Writing and acting are really really bad, there's little to no emotion at all even in the most heart-breaking and serious situations. I like the idea but the execution is quite bad. I laughed the whole time honestly so it wasn't that bad in the end, but my gf hated it. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/15/24 Full Review User Beautiful movie. Tension at the highest levels. For me, this movie is really great. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/06/22 Full Review samitha b Messed up the ending. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Late R The first half of the film is a little bland and rather familiar-feeling, but just as I started to lose hope of anything interesting happening, it hits you with a clever twist that kicks off a gripping and tense second half. There are a number of things that don't make sense when you stop to think about them and it's a bit over-dramatic in very Spanish fashion, but that only adds to the charm. At the end of the day, ‘The Hidden Face' may start off slow, but rewards the viewer if you stick with it and ends up being pretty entertaining stuff. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/30/21 Full Review Audience Member Clever and beautifully acted Hitchcockian thriller. At its best during the quieter sequences, when suspicion and jealousy are allowed to play out logically. The big plot twist two-thirds of the way through is genuinely surprising and in less skilful hands would probably snuff out any plausibility, but here it transforms a good mystery into something approaching tragedy. Well worth seeking out. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review joe m A Spanish/Columbian production, "The Hidden Face" is a taut, suspenseful missing person story that is above average in so many ways. Most of all great storyline that really kept you guessing as to what was going to happen, especially at the end. I won't give anything away, but the directing, the cast and the beautiful house that is at the center of the story are all top notch. Definitely worth catching. Jonathan Holland Variety The pic's thrills remain consecutive rather than cumulative, and fail to resonate. Oct 5, 2011 Full Review Laura Hiros Rincón de cine If you want to see something different and above all take advantage of the delights of Latin American cinema, do not miss this interesting film. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 3/5 Mar 22, 2018 Full Review Anton Bitel Cinetalk all at once a bizarre love triangle, an even more bizarre ghost story, and a mystery both personal and (mildly) political.
