Audience Member LA VIE DES MORTS, an early 54-minute film from Arnaud Desplechin, completely floored me. I wasn't expecting much, but really was totally shaken up for a few hours after the screening. The film's quiet sincerity and emotionality hit me hard at the end. Although not as technically sophisticated as his rather sweeping later features, LA VIE DES MORTS has a set of pleasures all its own and an honest atmosphere that makes certain scenes and moments unforgettable. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Desplechin trouvait deja ici son sujet majeur : la famille. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member An early short film from Desplechin but exploring similar themes of his later features. An extended family comes together during a crisis which sees one of its number having attempted suicide. Emmanuel Devos, who has become a Desplechin regular, has a small role.
