      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

A far-fetched story with little suspense and unconvincing scenarios, Lady In The Water feels contrived, pretentious, and rather silly.

MsCaramello73 I adore this movie. There is so much humor and hopefulness about humanity and what we can do if we just come together-who we could save and who we could heal. It also says that we have a purpose that is predestined. I don't personally believe that, but it's an interesting idea. Overall, this movie was fun to watch and gave me a warm feeling inside, which few movies do nowadays. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/24 Full Review Kate K I don't understand how anyone could rate this movie low in score—this has got to be his best film. I think it was perfectly done, had enough initial ambiguity and intrigue to keep you hooked the entire time. There was a moment or two of humor mixed in with melancholic hope, a mystery that uncovers both purpose and underlying heart. And that we can't in this life do anything alone. Top tier 💯 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/04/24 Full Review Millennial Junk Incredible movie that transports you to a magical world. A world that has hope, fear, mystery and connections. M. Night Shymalan is a creative genius and the world will recognize this genius one day. This movie is for any who believe in and love magic. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/08/24 Full Review Chris b One of my top 5 favourite films. I no a lot of people were disappointed with this film, but I think it's very good. A brilliant cast and great story Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/13/23 Full Review Quintius How was there 70 million dollars budget for this movie? And how did it earn 72 millions? One of the worst movies i have ever watched. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/21/23 Full Review netta W Absolutely beautiful Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/10/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

David Ansen Newsweek Still, the multicultural cast is fun, the images have a painterly beauty and there are some beguiling comic touches before the story sinks into a swamp of solemn metaphysical glop. Feb 6, 2018 Full Review Brian Tallerico UGO It's a fairy tale that never flies the way it should. Mar 24, 2007 Full Review Roger Ebert RogerEbert.com [Perhaps it's] improvised and protracted, nonsensically and unnecessarily, just for the sake of stringing us along. And, maybe, putting us to sleep. Rated: 1.5/4 Sep 13, 2006 Full Review Jonathan Weber Out Magazine Nothing works in this film; it’s boring and incomprehensible, laughable when it should be inspiring. May 25, 2022 Full Review Sergio Benítez Espinof Shyamalan proves once again to be a filmmaker who knows how to take advantage of some highly ridiculous scenarios and situations.
