Dudley plots to keep Edward alive long enough to name Lady Jane Grey (Helena Bonham Carter) as his heir and also marries Jane to his son, Guilford (Cary Elwes).       michael s This film is spectacular! Outstanding ensemble with brilliantly written based on true events. Disregard the critic reviews, they're all meaningless and still can't comprehend why any one bothers with their opinions. This film should have been lauded for its brilliance. As a Yank wife is British: they got mad at me as I ran the board on British Jeopardy "we broke away but we must know our mother's history" is my philosophy. Lady Jane, whom I saw her portrait at Glamis Castle and is supposed to haunt the place got a raw deal. It is a good historical time piece. It's quite forgotten now but I saw it again recently and it was worth watching again. If you put Cary Elwes, Patrick Stewart and Helena Bonham Carter together there is no way to lose. Not many people know anything about Jane Grey anyway, so it hinges on its pure entertainment value, which is great.
