aya t 5d quenton tarentino's kill bill is actually pays homage to lady snowblood revenge film with even with the same song & lucy lui' yakuza boss(oyabun) wearing a white kimono in the snow that also gets splattered w' red blood like mieko kaji's kimono. but yuki kashima's translated name is actually snow white. but lady snowblood just sounds much more menacing than snow white. based on the manga by kazuo koike(lone wolf with cub)& kazuo kamimura. Kaji is superb as the title character, beautiful yet deadly as Snowblood, along with dogged in her pursuit for revenge but also aware of the costs. Behind the camera, director Toshiya Fujita crafts a solid revenge flick with some violent, over the top action. Plus, he shows Snowblood mission for revenge isn't as clean cut, as not everyone is the monster she believes. See more Kevin L Feb 13 Sorry, not sorry, but I can't do these movies any more. Is every one of these old Japanese sword fight/samurai/slash movies built on revenge??? Or just every other one? This one, again, is a revenge flick. Apparently, it's the movie that "Kill Bill" was inspired by. But this movie makes "Kill Bill" look like the nadir of cinematic experiences. Yeesh, the acting, again and again, is abysmal. I've been told that such extreme, overt acting was, to them, how to show great emotion or realism. To me, it's just hacky as hell. I won't feign some fake awe over these movies like a lot of ppl seem to do. From the garish bloodletting to the horribly bad fight choreography, to the thin and shallow writing, this is poor filmmaking. 2 stars See more Jonathan O Dec 19 Violent, sexy,silly and beauty of grindhouse revenge film the cinematography looks amazing it really captures the manga and anime style into this live action of Lady Snowblood and really heroic leading performance by Meiko Kaji and is extremely bloody not for faint of hearts or weak stomach for viewers and does have seen Kill Bill vol. 1 we'll definitely be surprised.
