Anton Bitel Little White Lies Lady Snowblood only half-heartedly revels in its heroine's bloody revenge, while focusing just as much on the tragedy of her circumstances and the absurdity of her vengeful fate. Sep 25, 2012 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand ... a thoroughly cinematic experience, full of color and movement strewn across the widescreen frame and highlighted by efficiently choreographed battles. Jonathan O Violent, sexy, silly and beauty of grindhouse revenge film the cinematography looks amazing it really captures the manga and anime style into this live action of Lady Snowblood and really heroic leading performance by Meiko Kaji and is extremely bloody not for faint of hearts or weak stomach for viewers and does have seen Kill Bill vol. 1 we'll definitely be surprised. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/19/24 Full Review Audience Member The acting was on par with Game of Death to be honest, but the story was genuinely good. Like wow this was a great movie no wonder Tarantino stole it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/11/24 Full Review grey g For fans of Tarantino's Kill Bill, this film will delight. KB is more than just a homage to Lady Snowblood, there are elements from format to music that stitch together the two movies. Of course KB is much more. LB is runs at a cracking pace. OF course time has made some of the special effects, fight sequences and continuity a big weak by today's standards, however it's well worth the hour and a half. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/27/23 Full Review Gabriel M had me on the edge of my seat, I loved this moves so much it actually cured my mom's cancer. my crippled brother actually stood up from suspense and Jesus came back. 10/10 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/21/23 Full Review Ray B One of the best Kung Fu movies I ever saw! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review dave s If you can get past all of the praise heaped on Lady Snowblood and look at it objectively, you'll probably find that it's a real mixed bag instead of the cinematic masterpiece many have labelled it as. In a nutshell, it's a revenge flick about a young woman seeking revenge for the murder of her father and the rape of her mother. On the positive side, Meiko Kaji has a genuine screen presence as the steely-eyed killer, never flinching as she avenges the wrongs done to her parents. There are also a handful of beautifully shot scenes and, for anyone who likes their killings with an excess of blood, Lady Snowblood is graphic. On the other hand, there are numerous poorly framed shots that are just puzzling, the editing is inconsistent and often borders on amateurish, many of the outdoor scenes seem to be overexposed, much of the acting from anyone not named Meiko Kaji is embarrassing, and the story tends to plod at times.
