Based on Mamet's experience as a freighter on the Great Lakes while a grad English lit student, Mantegna's screen version is so dramatically inert and artistically shapeless resulting in an uninvolving memory film.

Live on Lake Michigan. Father worked on Great Lakes. Every crew member aboard was dedicated, professional. No one in movie works, or prepares for next port.

This movie is awesome! nothing but pure hardcore swearing for the whole movie! Starts Denis Leary, Peter Falk and George Wendt. Plus i know the old guy at the end of the movie.
